As everything has been anglicized (or tagalized) in the last century, some aren’t as prevalent as they used to be. But I find it interesting that many of them are still in use today.
The spelling has been left in its original Spanish for Spanish learners (such as myself).
In addition to all our words being anglicized (the result of our English-only policy), many have been forcibly indigenized (i.e., secundaria – mataas na paaralan).

In my opinion, this is more harmful than beneficial. Most people find it strange to use these newly coined words (who uses “mataas na paaralan”?)many end up simply using the English version or the Tagalized version (i.e., hayskul).
